Seeing these gentle giants for the first time is unforgettable. We’re right in the thick of the redwoods and not too far from Smith River Recreation Area, Stout Grove Trailhead, Jedediah Smith State Park and Redwood National Park.
Friendly, helpful staff made us feel right at home. Quiet location close to Crescent City was a perfect place to stay while seeing the Redwoods and the Trees of Mystery. Dog and kid friendly. Store and café.

When you’re ready to relax with a good meal, or track down your favorite snack, you can walk a short distance to the Hiouchi Cafe or Hiouchi Hamlet convenience store. They’re both right by the entrance to the park.
We traveled in from out of state and it was great to have a little cabin/apt to use. It was a great location for doing both Jedidiah Smith and Prairie Creek parks. Would recommend to anyone!
